SERVICES

You can expect to meet a therapist who
has decades of experience working with people
who are in crisis, seeking self-exploration,
or who want to change old habits that
no longer serve them.

Methods

DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy) Skills

DBT Skills Teaching is an evidence-based, 6 month program with four modules:

Mindfulness

Distress
Tolerance

Emotional
Regulation

Interpersonal
Effectiveness

During this program, I teach skills in acceptance and change that can increase an individual’s ability to respond to situations more effectively. This program has been designed to help people with borderline personality disorder and self-harm behaviour, however the skills are universal and can benefit everyone.

DBT SKills are taught in group
settings of 4–6 people or individually.

Narrative Therapy

Narrative Therapy is a method of psychotherapy. Questions are posed in a way that helps you externalize problems in order to experience a separation from them. This helps us unpack the problems and any negative conclusions that may have developed under the problems’ influence.

Together, we explore neglected aspects of your identity, experiences, and relationships, that contradict the problems. This can reveal possibilities for addressing the problems and diminishing its influence.

In Narrative Therapy, we give voice and attention to the aspects which contradict problems and can support what is important and precious to you.

Psychotherapy/Counselling

I use a combination of methods that can include DBT Skills, Narrative Therapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Brief Solution Focused and Motivational Interviewing. My approach is always strength-based and trauma-informed.

Insurance

For insurance coverage, please check with your provider. I have a Master of Social Work degree, am a licensed member of the New Brunswick Association of Social Workers and the Canadian Association of Social Workers. If your benefits include coverage for my services, payment will be up-front but, I can provide a receipt for you to submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

Subsidized Services

Many people do not have any insurance coverage for counselling and cannot afford counselling. If you find yourself in this predicament, please call to request services at a rate that is affordable for you. Prior to calling, it may be helpful for you to consider what your monthly budget could allow for counselling and how many sessions you think will benefit you. I try my best to provide accessible services for all.

Free 20 minutes consult

You can book a free 20 minute phone call to get a sense of who I am and if you would like to engage in therapy work with me. Feel free to ask about my approaches and experience.
